About the Department

The Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) is responsible for protecting and conserving South Africa’s environment and natural resources. Our work ensures that the rights of all citizens to a healthy environment are protected for present and future generations.

Role Overview

We are looking for a dedicated Administration Clerk to provide support within our Forestry division. This role involves managing office records, assisting with logistics, and ensuring that administrative processes run smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Document Management: Record, organize, and store correspondence. Maintain an efficient filing system and update office registers.
  • Communication: Handle routine inquiries, manage emails, and distribute documents to relevant stakeholders.
  • General Administration: Type documents, maintain personnel records, and track staff attendance.
  • Logistics: Facilitate travel and accommodation bookings. Verify travel claims and manage petty cash.
  • Finance and Procurement: Capture expenditure data and assist with the procurement of goods and services.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric) certificate or equivalent qualification.
  • Previous experience in office administration is an advantage.
  • Basic knowledge of Public Service Regulations and the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA).
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to communicate clearly (both written and verbal).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team.
  • The ability to remain professional under pressure and handle difficult situations or conflicts effectively.
  • A strong work ethic and a sense of responsibility.

Assessment Process

All shortlisted candidates will be required to undergo two pre-entry assessments:

  1. A practical exercise to test technical and generic skills.
  2. An integrity assessment to evaluate ethical conduct.
