The Eastern Cape Department of Public Works and Infrastructure (DPWI) is responsible for managing and maintaining provincial government property and infrastructure. The department drives development through various construction and maintenance projects, including schools and hospitals, across the Eastern Cape.

Job Overview

• Experience: 5 years post-qualification

Requirements

• A Matric certificate.
• A Trade Test Certificate in any Built Environment field.
• At least five (5) years of experience as an Artisan after qualifying.
• A valid driver’s license.

Key Responsibilities

Design and Production

• Supervise and create designs based on client needs and production limits.
• Ensure all produced objects and projects meet quality standards and technical specifications.
• Select appropriate materials and equipment for each job.

Maintenance and Repairs

• Inspect facilities and equipment to identify technical faults.
• Repair equipment and facilities according to set safety and quality standards.
• Test all repairs to ensure they meet required specifications.

Administration and Leadership

• Update maintenance logs and repair records.
• Compile and submit regular progress reports.
• Supervise, mentor, and schedule work for staff.
• Manage human and capital resources effectively.
• Ensure all work follows safety regulations and standards.

Professional Development

• Keep up to date with new technologies and industry procedures.
• Research new technical methods to improve departmental expertise.
