Purpose of the Job

The main goal of this role is to operate and maintain mechanical and electro-mechanical equipment. You will follow specific instructions and safety standards to ensure all machines meet performance targets.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair plant equipment and mechanical systems.
• Use plant maintenance and planning software systems effectively.
• Follow all safety management systems and emergency procedures.
• Perform risk assessments and identify potential hazards before starting work.
• Participate in morning meetings to discuss daily assignments and progress.
• Provide regular updates to supervisors regarding work status.
• Assist in root cause analysis to solve technical issues and improve plant stability.
• Keep the work area clean and follow proper waste disposal rules.
• Mentor junior artisans and share technical knowledge with the team.
• Contribute to the long-term maintenance strategy and suggest improvements for equipment reliability.
• Conduct physical inspections to ensure the plant remains sustainable and safe.

Requirements

Education:

• National Senior Certificate (Matric) or N3.
• Must have passed Mathematics, English, and Physical Science.
• Occupational Trade Certificate (Mechanical Red Seal).

Experience:

• At least 3 years of relevant experience in a maintenance or industrial environment.
