About the Position

The Eastern Cape Department of Public Works and Infrastructure (DPWI) is the primary manager of provincial government assets. We are responsible for the development and maintenance of essential infrastructure, including schools and hospitals. We are currently looking for a qualified Artisan Painter to join our team in the Amathole region to ensure our facilities are maintained to the highest standards.

Requirements

• A completed Matric (Grade 12) certificate.
• An appropriate Trade Test Certificate in Painting.
• A valid driver’s license.

Key Responsibilities

Production and Design:

• Develop designs based on client requirements.
• Produce high-quality work using appropriate materials and equipment according to industry standards.
• Ensure all finished projects meet quality assurance benchmarks.

Maintenance and Repairs:

• Regularly inspect facilities and equipment for technical faults.
• Perform repairs on equipment and buildings to keep them in top condition.
• Test all repaired items to ensure they meet required specifications.

Administration and Supervision:

• Maintain accurate records of all work, repairs, and maintenance tasks.
• Prepare and submit progress reports and contribute to operational planning.
• Provide guidance, supervision, and mentoring to junior staff members.
• Stay updated with new painting technologies and professional procedures.
