Assistant Manager Nursing: Area (Primary Health Care Specialty)

We are currently seeking a professional and experienced Assistant Manager to join our Primary Health Care (PHC) team.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must meet the following criteria:

• Education: A Diploma or Degree in Nursing (R425) that allows for registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
• Specialization: A post-basic qualification (at least 1 year) in Primary Health Care (PHC), accredited by SANC.
• Management Training: A qualification in Health Service Management or Nursing Administration (at least 1 year), accredited by SANC.
• Total Experience: At least 10 years of nursing experience after registering with SANC.
• Specific Experience: At least 6 years of the total experience must be in a PHC setting (after obtaining your specialty). At least 3 years must be at a management level.
• Licenses: A valid driver’s license and basic computer literacy are essential.
• Skills: Strong knowledge of the Nursing Act, Labour Relations, and Public Service Regulations. You should have excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

As the Assistant Manager for Nursing, your duties will include:

• Quality Care: Ensuring all patients receive high-quality, cost-effective, and ethical nursing treatment.
• Compliance: Maintaining professional standards as set by SANC and ensuring facilities follow the "Batho Pele" principles of service.
• Program Management: Implementing health and safety plans, quality assurance programs, and Primary Health Care re-engineering initiatives.
• Resource Management: Managing human resources, finances, and equipment. You will monitor the budget to ensure the clinic functions efficiently.
• Staff Development: Supervising staff performance, identifying training needs, and handling grievances or disciplinary matters.
• Reporting: Preparing and submitting weekly, monthly, and annual reports to track progress and service delivery.
