Purpose of the Role
Gather, analyse, and understand business users’ data and analytics requirements. Translate these requirements into best‑practice technical solutions that meet business objectives. Produce comprehensive business requirement specifications by using domain, technical, and data knowledge, while coordinating with stakeholders such as product lines, shared services, and other support teams within the Capitec Data Estate.
Education (Minimum)
A relevant tertiary qualification in Information Systems.
Knowledge and Experience (Minimum)
- Enterprise‑level data warehousing
- Experience with cloud data estates such as AWS and Azure
- Fundamentals of cluster computing and big data technologies
- Data governance and data management practices
- Understanding of data protection regulations
- Knowledge of financial systems and procedures
- Experience with software development life cycles and DevOps- Ability to create conceptual data models
- Basic data analysis using SQL (PostgreSQL)
- Understanding of data visualisation concepts
- Experience with software testing and quality assurance
- Coaching principles and practice
- Database design and database technologiesIdeal Experience and Skills
- Banking systems environment and understanding of banking business models
- Agile development lifecycle
- Experience with Amazon Redshift- Quality Assurance (QA) techniques- Advanced data modelling and database design
- Business analysis techniques such as conceptual models, ER diagrams, test cases, data flows, UML, business process flows, and data dictionaries
- Ability to coach junior team members and lead projects or Communities of Practice
- Ability to analyse data and assess its impact on organisational objectives
- Ability to identify and classify data exposure risks in line with relevant legislation- Relevant business domain knowledge, especially in credit or finance
Professional Experience (Minimum)
- At least seven years of proven experience in information systems, business intelligence, or data warehousing environments
- At least seven years of experience drafting Business Requirement Specifications and translating requirements between business and functional stakeholders
- Experience using various business analysis techniques to describe business needs
- Experience providing technical coaching to junior team members and leading projects or Communities of Practice
- Experience performing data analysis and evaluating its broader organisational impact
- Experience identifying and classifying data exposure risks according to legislation
