Job Title: Data Analyst Location: Sandton, South Africa Company: Capitec Bank Ltd Purpose: The Data Analyst role unlocks value from data by making it accessible and meaningful to stakeholders. The analyst transforms data into actionable insights that support strategic decisions, improve operations, and drive business performance. This role helps the company become an insights‑driven organization. Key Responsibilities: - Analyse data to find trends, patterns and opportunities. - Build and maintain dashboards and visualisations using Tableau, Power BI or similar tools. - Write complex SQL queries and optimise their performance for large datasets. - Perform advanced statistical modelling and predictive analytics on financial data. - Guide and advise cross‑functional teams such as finance, marketing and IT on data needs. - Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to non‑technical stakeholders. - Ensure data quality, integrity and compliance with financial regulations. Experience Required: - Proven experience in data analysis, preferably within banking or financial services. - Strong track record of leading data projects that delivered measurable business impact. - Hands‑on experience with advanced data tools such as SQL, Python, R, Tableau and Power BI. - Ability to work with large datasets and apply complex statistical methods. - Experience presenting insights to senior leadership and non‑technical audiences. - Good understanding of financial products, industry trends, and regulatory requirements. Qualifications: - Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in an analytical, data or technical discipline. - Preferred: Honours degree in a related field. - Advanced proficiency in writing complex SQL and optimising queries. - Expertise in advanced Excel functions, macros and VBA. - Advanced skills in Python or R, including pandas, numpy and data visualisation libraries. - Strong knowledge of statistical methods and their financial applications. - Understanding of predictive analytics and risk analysis techniques. - Ability to model and structure data effectively.
