About the Role

The position is part of the Capitec Business Banking team. As Manager – Data and Analytics you will design and deliver data‑driven solutions that support business decisions. You will turn strategic plans into clear insights, build predictive models, and promote best practices across the team. The role requires collaboration with senior stakeholders, influencing decisions at executive level, and strengthening Capitec’s position as a leader in analytics.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement analytical solutions that create measurable business value.
• Create and maintain predictive models and statistical forecasts.
• Translate complex data requirements into actionable insights for senior management.
• Lead a team of analysts, providing coaching and mentorship.
• Work with cloud platforms such as AWS to deploy analytical solutions.
• Use low‑code AutoML tools like Power BI or AWS SageMaker to accelerate model development.
• Design visualisations and dashboards with Power BI for clear stakeholder communication.
• Manage large data frameworks including Hadoop and Kafka.
• Maintain code quality and collaboration using Git and GitHub.
• Liaise with commercial and strategic stakeholders to align analytics with business goals.
• Ensure accuracy, attention to detail, and compliance with data governance policies.

Required Experience and Skills

• More than ten years of experience in a commercial environment, with at least four years in a leadership or managerial role.
• Proven track record of delivering value through data‑driven decision making.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and ability to handle complex analytical queries.
• Experience influencing senior and executive level stakeholders.
• Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms, especially AWS.
• Familiarity with low‑code AutoML tools such as Power BI or AWS SageMaker.
• Data visualisation skills using Power BI.
• Knowledge of big‑data frameworks like Hadoop and Kafka.
• Experience with version control using Git or GitHub.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Strong facilitation and presentation skills.
• Commercial and strategic thinking.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to drive innovation and simplify processes.

Education and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Engineering, Mathematics, or Statistics.
• Demonstrated analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
