Purpose: The role involves evaluating and managing credit and related risks for a designated portfolio within the Business Bank. You will lead, motivate and guide a team of Credit and Senior Credit Managers who provide credit support from application through assessment and ongoing risk management. You will integrate and manage the credit function to ensure that credit risk across the regions aligns with the bank’s risk appetite, aiming to minimise bad debt losses, maximise profits and apply appropriate risk‑based pricing. The position also requires overseeing a complex, high‑value portfolio in addition to supervising provincial portfolios.
Experience – Minimum: At least three years in a senior management role and seven years of credit management experience in commercial and business markets. Candidates must have previous supervisory or leadership experience.
Experience – Ideal: Preference is given to candidates with more than three years of senior management experience and over seven years of credit management experience in commercial and business markets.
Qualifications – Minimum: A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Financial Accounting or Credit Management.
Qualifications – Ideal: An honours degree in Accounting, Financial Accounting or Credit Management is preferred.
Knowledge – Minimum: Understanding of commercial, business and financial principles; people management; change management; project management; governance and risk management; business processes, policies and systems; and relevant credit and risk legislation (e.g., NCA, CPA, Companies Act, Insolvency Act). Familiarity with the impact of regulatory bodies such as BASA, SARB, SACCRA, NCR and FIC on organisational operations is required.
