Purpose: The Contract and Commercial Management Specialist – IT Hardware will support business units by identifying and screening suppliers, negotiating favorable terms, driving improved service levels, and managing the contract lifecycle.

Position Summary: This role drives category performance, commercial value, and supplier innovation for IT hardware and related services. It leads strategic sourcing, manages key supplier relationships, and supports stakeholders in achieving cost optimisation, risk mitigation, and service excellence. The specialist is responsible for delivering annual savings and ROI targets across the IT hardware spend.

Experience Required:

  • Minimum 5 years in strategic procurement.
  • Managed spend over R100 million.
  • Experience across multiple categories.
  • Ability to analyze and present findings to senior management.

Ideal Experience:

  • 5–8 years in IT category procurement (hardware and/or services).
  • Proven strategic sourcing and contract negotiation skills.
  • Strong knowledge of IT hardware markets and service models.
  • Advanced Excel and procurement analytics.
  • Experience with SAP, Ariba, or similar procurement systems.
  • Process design and optimisation in enterprise environments.
  • Technical understanding of SAP procurement processes.
  • Budgeting experience and budget compliance.
  • Supplier relationship management.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum: Relevant tertiary qualification.
  • Ideal: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, procurement, business, or related field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Category Strategy & Execution: Define and deliver IT hardware strategy aligned to business goals; drive cost optimisation and value creation; lead sourcing events (RFI/RFP/RFQ); use market analysis and benchmarking.
  • Process Optimisation & Enablement: Speed up hardware buying while maintaining governance; remove inefficiencies; optimise SAP/Ariba workflows; review approval frameworks; prepare governance papers.
  • Supplier & Contract Management: Build strategic supplier relationships; negotiate contracts, SLAs, pricing; track performance; ensure compliance.
  • Commercial & Business Support: Partner with IT and stakeholders to define demand; advise on procurement, licensing, maintenance; support project-based procurement; improve spend visibility; lead build‑vs‑buy assessments; perform total cost of ownership analysis.
  • Financial & ROI Accountability: Deliver annual savings and value targets; drive ROI through sourcing, renegotiations, demand optimisation, and contract consolidation; track and report savings; validate with finance.
  • Risk & Governance: Identify and mitigate category and supplier risks;
