Capitec Connect is a fast‑growing mobile virtual network operator building the platforms behind mobile connectivity, airtime, data, rewards and smartphone journeys. We are looking for a senior back‑end engineer to design, build and operate scalable, cloud‑native systems on AWS.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and operate cloud‑native services on AWS.
• Architect reusable services following AWS Well‑Architected principles.
• Create event‑driven and microservices architectures.
• Optimize databases and APIs for performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with product, QA and platform teams.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers.
• Help shape new connectivity products used by millions of customers.

What We’re Looking For

• Grade 12 or equivalent; tertiary qualification in IT is preferred.
• 6+ years of back‑end development experience, with end‑to‑end production system delivery.
• Strong knowledge of SDLC, RESTful API design, design patterns, testing practices.
• Experience with SQL database design and optimization.
• Proficiency in cloud platforms, especially AWS.
• Hands‑on experience with microservices, event‑driven architecture, containerisation and Kubernetes.
• Skills in analytical thinking, attention to detail, communication and problem solving.
• Clear criminal and credit record; commitment to diversity and employment equity.
