Position: Team Leader – Insurance Operations (Credit Life Claims)

Location: Century City, Western Cape, South Africa

Purpose: Lead and manage a team in the Credit Life Claims area. Ensure claims are handled ethically, efficiently, and in line with internal policies, external laws, and insurance regulations.

Experience Required:

• Minimum three years of experience in claims assessment.
• More than five years working in the insurance sector.
• At least three years of experience leading a team in a fast‑paced environment.
• Ability to apply technical expertise, such as operational excellence or medical knowledge, to service delivery.
• Skill in planning, organising, and prioritising work to meet service‑level agreements.
• Experience in improving processes and communicating with diverse stakeholders, including legal experts, medical professionals, and clients.

Qualifications (minimum):

• Grade 12 National Certificate or equivalent vocational qualification.
• A relevant tertiary qualification.

Key Knowledge Areas:

• Team leadership and general operations management.
• Understanding of operational and administrative planning standards.
• In‑depth knowledge of the insurance industry, especially life, medical, funeral, and disability claims.
• Analytical approach to evaluating claims and interpreting medical/legal documents.
• Technical knowledge of insurance policies, fraud prevention frameworks, and medical terminology.
• Strong grasp of relevant legislation and claim assessment principles.
• Familiarity with investigative methods, tools, and techniques.
• Awareness of operational risk and cultural/religious sensitivities in claims.
• Understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance standards.
• Basic data analytics and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Client‑service orientation and HR principles.
