Job Overview

Dis-Chem Cascades is looking for a Casual Frontshop Assistant. The main purpose of this role is to maintain high merchandising standards and provide excellent customer service at our point-of-sale counters, following all company policies and procedures.

Minimum Requirements

• Education: Grade 12 (Matric) or Senior Certificate.
• Experience: 0 to 6 months of retail work experience.
• Citizenship: Must be a South African citizen.
• Background: Clear criminal record and credit rating.
• Transport: Valid driver’s license and reliable transport.

Preferred Qualifications:
One year of retail experience or a certificate in Retail Business Management is an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

Merchandising and Stock Management:

• Ensure shelves are fully stocked, neatly presented, and labels are correct.
• Monitor expiration dates and rotate stock regularly.
• Organize and tidy the storeroom; assist with loading and off-loading stock.
• Handle all products carefully to prevent damage or loss.
• Assist with stock counts and general inventory management.

Customer Service and Point of Sale:

• Provide friendly and professional assistance to all customers.
• Process payments accurately (cash, cards, vouchers, and coupons).
• Handle loyalty card transactions and process approved returns or exchanges.
• Follow up on customer queries regarding out-of-stock items.

Store Operations:

• Maintain accurate cash flow and follow drop-safe procedures.
• Help train new team members when required.
• Report suspicious behavior or stock discrepancies to management.
• Adhere to health and safety rules and maintain store housekeeping standards.
• Follow the company uniform and personal appearance policy.

Required Skills and Competencies

• Basic understanding of retail operations and administration.
• Ability to solve simple problems and know when to escalate issues.
• Good verbal communication skills.
• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
• Reliability and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Basic computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook) and SAP knowledge is a plus.

• Remuneration: Market-related salary.
