Construction Health andSafety Manager - Western Cape

A well-established and reputable engineering and construction consultancy with a strong footprint across large-scale infrastructure and building projects is currently seeking a Construction Health and Safety Manager to join their Western Cape team.

Responsibilities

1. Develop, implement, and maintain Construction Health and Safety (CHS) plans in compliance with regulatory requirements
2. Oversee and manage CHS compliance across complex and high-risk construction projects
3. Conduct site inspections, risk assessments, and safety audits to ensure adherence to safety standards
4. Lead incident investigations and compile detailed reports with corrective action plans
5. Coordinate CHS matters among contractors, clients, and other project stakeholders
6. Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and associated regulations
7. Monitor contractor performance and enforce safety standards on-site
8. Facilitate safety training, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns
9. Maintain accurate safety documentation and reporting systems
10. Support contract administration related to CHS requirements

Requirements

1. SACPCMP registration as Candidate CHSM, CHSM (CHS Manager), or Candidate CHSA (CHS Agent)
2. Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in construction occupational health and safety
3. Proven experience managing CHS on complex, large-scale, or high-risk construction projects
4. Strong knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS Act) and Regulations
5. Familiarity with the Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act, and Environmental Conservation Act
6. Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint)
7. Strong coordination and stakeholder management skills
8. Experience in incident investigation and safety auditing
9. Fluent in English and Afrikaans
10. Own reliable transport
11. Physically fit and able to navigate construction sites, including working at heights
