Cleaner: Facilities and Operations

The Eastern Cape Department of Public Works and Infrastructure (DPWI) is the custodian of provincial government buildings and infrastructure. We are responsible for the development, management, and maintenance of essential facilities, including schools and hospitals, across the province.

Job Overview

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will ensure that provincial facilities are kept clean, hygienic, and well-maintained. Primary duties include:

General Cleaning Services

• Clean and maintain offices, corridors, elevators, and boardrooms.
• Dust and wax furniture.
• Sweep, scrub, wax, and vacuum floors.
• Clean walls, windows, and doors.
• Empty and clean waste bins and remove waste paper.

Kitchen and Restroom Maintenance

• Clean kitchen basins and wash all kitchen utensils.
• Sanitize restrooms and refill essential supplies such as hand soap, toilet paper, and towels.
• Ensure waste bins in restrooms are emptied and cleaned regularly.

Equipment and Material Management

• Care for and maintain cleaning machines (such as vacuum cleaners and microwaves).
• Report any broken equipment or machinery to supervisors.
• Monitor stock levels and request new cleaning materials when needed.
