The role of the Team Leader is to assist the DC Leadership Team in ensuring that we deliver quality and efficient outputs whilst working to tight deadlines and operating within a highly pressurised environment. 

The Team Leader role will be held in conjunction with your current Distributor position and duties, but you will have added responsibility to support the Supervisor with certain leadership activities, and in their absence, oversee the respective team.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily cycle count activities.
  • Allocate resources, monitor productivity, and ensure adherence to SOPs.
  • Act as the first point of escalation for stock discrepancies.
  • Provide training, coaching, and mentoring to team members.
  • Monitor KPIs such as UPH, accuracy, variances, and reconciliation times.
  • Collaborate with operations and IT teams to resolve issues quickly.
  • Ensure valid stock checks are performed, and DC inventory is not unnecessarily inflated.
  • Train and coach new Distributors in the team
  • Conduct morning team meetings.
  • Provide regular updates and information to your team.
  • Any other ad hoc function as required by the management team

Qualifications

Qualification/s:

  • Matric is advantageous.

Experience / Knowledge:

Previous experience in operating in a Distribution Centre environment

  • Having excellent self-management and self-motivation abilities and skills.
  • Have a proven track record working in a pressurised work environment.
  • Possess leadership potential - (i.e. managing staff, motivating, counselling, directing, controlling, being operationally focussed).

  • Process minded.
  • Demonstrate a sound understanding of the DC operations.
  • Be a high contributing team member (i.e. role model).
  • Strong focus on group/teamwork.
