Dis-Chem Clinic Sister Position - Klerksdorp

Dis-Chem is seeking a Qualified Clinic Sister to join their team in Klerksdorp. The primary role involves managing and operating a profitable Primary Health Care Clinic located within a pharmacy, adhering to the scope of practice of a registered nursing practitioner.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Tertiary qualification in General Nursing
  • Degree/Diploma in Midwifery
  • Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
  • Nursing practitioner must obtain BHF (Business Hub Forum?) registration
  • 2-3 years of experience practicing as a Primary Health Care Clinic Sister
  • Computer skills: proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Advantageous Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Primary Health Care Sister
  • Experience with Patient Record Systems, CKS, and Allegra

Job Description

  • Perform all Clinic Sister duties in accordance with industry regulations and best practices.
  • Manage clinic operations to achieve and maintain a profitable "feet-per-hour" rate; set and achieve clinic objectives to enhance patient satisfaction.
  • Ensure all clinic services are consistently available as per operational hours.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure all communications are followed up promptly.
  • Ensure clinic opening and operational hours are strictly adhered to.
  • Process claims accurately and on time according to industry standards.
  • Ensure clinic stock and equipment are in good working condition and comply with industry standards.
  • Maintain adequate clinic stock levels as per business requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with patients, the Store and Dispensary Manager, colleagues, medical aids, suppliers/representatives, key community stakeholders, and other healthcare professionals.

Competencies

Essential Competencies

  • Comprehensive knowledge of community health nursing, primary health care, occupational health nursing, family planning, cytology, IUD insertion, pharmacology, EPI/cold chain management, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), emergency care, HIV/AIDS pre- and post-counseling, breastfeeding support, pathology, and wound care.
  • Completion of quarterly CPD (Continuing Professional Development) training; participation in in-service training programs provided by Dis-Chem.
  • Strong command of English (both written and spoken).
  • Understanding of the financial implications of meeting or missing monthly targets.
  • Strong analytical skills for interpreting monthly clinic statistics and commission data.
  • High emotional intelligence, entrepreneurial spirit, trustworthiness, and honesty.
  • Ability to manage both a team and oneself; self-directed and self-motivated.
  • Effective time management skills.

Advantageous Competencies

  • Bilingualism.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Dis-Chem's overall business objectives.
  • Completion of specific courses: Baby Immunisation Course (DoH/Sanofi Pasteur), Family Planning (DoH), Primary Health Care Course, Breastfeeding Course, Disease Management Course.

Special Conditions of Employment

  • Willing and able to work retail hours.
  • Physically fit and healthy to manage a Primary Health Care Clinic effectively.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable personal transport.
  • South African citizenship.
  • Clear credit and criminal records.
