Dis-Chem Pharmacies Merchandiser - Brackenfell Corner Store

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a dedicated Merchandiser for our Brackenfell Corner store in the Western Cape. This role is crucial for ensuring the store's merchandise is presented optimally to drive sales and provide excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Restock shelves and ensure products are available to maximize sales opportunities.
  • Receive, store, and unpack stock efficiently and accurately, maintaining correct locations.
  • Monitor shelves for expired or damaged goods and ensure all products are within their sell-by date.
  • Maintain full product range availability on shelves at all times.
  • Implement regular stock rotation following First-In-First-Out (FIFO) principles.
  • Report low stock, out-of-stocks, damaged goods, and expired items to management promptly.
  • Assist with stock counts and inventory management tasks.
  • Adhere strictly to Dis-Chem's merchandising standards, store layout, and planograms.
  • Ensure all boxes are flattened and disposed of appropriately after unpacking.
  • Maintain pristine presentation of front shop shelves, products, and displays with correct labels and pricing.
  • Report any pricing discrepancies to management.
  • Stay informed about new and current products.
  • Build and maintain merchandising displays.
  • Ensure daily physical upkeep of the store and merchandise, including designated storeroom stock.
  • Assist with stock loading and unloading operations.
  • Clearly mark items lacking barcodes.
  • Support backroom operations and stock retrieval.
  • Contribute to training new staff members.
  • Provide friendly, helpful, and courteous customer service at all times.
  • Follow up on customer out-of-stock queries using the customer service list.
  • Resolve all customer stock-related inquiries effectively.
  • Wear the correct uniform and badge at all times.
  • Handle merchandise carefully to minimize losses.
  • Comply with all Dis-Chem policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and health and safety regulations.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
  • Up to 6 months of retail experience.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Willing and able to work the required retail hours.

Advantageous Requirements

  • At least 1 year of retail experience.

  • Ability to analyze ZMORE reports for ordering and stocktaking purposes.
  • Ability to report suspicious or bad behavior involving staff and customers.

  • Willing and able to work the required retail hours.
  • Able and physically fit to lift and move heavy boxes while adhering to health and safety standards.
  • Reliable transport or residence close to the store location.
  • South African citizenship.
