Driver Operator (Vhembe District)

We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Driver Operator for the Vhembe District.

Job Overview

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following tasks:

• Operate specialized equipment and machinery efficiently.
• Load and unload goods, materials, and equipment.
• Perform regular inspections and maintenance of equipment, reporting any defects promptly.
• Maintain accurate vehicle logbooks and trip authorizations.
• Ensure all safety and precautionary measures are followed during operation.
• Perform cleaning and lubrication of machinery.
• Assist with the grading of gravel roads and shoulder maintenance.
• Provide driving services for work teams and the transportation of materials.
• Identify and repair minor mechanical problems, including checking oil, fuel, tyres, and water levels.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet these minimum criteria:

• A Grade 10 certificate (NQF level 3), ABET/AET, or an equivalent recognized qualification.
• A valid driver’s license and a Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
• A minimum of five (5) years of experience in driving and operating specialized equipment.

Knowledge and Skills

• Practical knowledge of operating specialized machinery and vehicles.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
• Ability to read, write, and interpret operating manuals and service charts.
• Good physical eyesight and the ability to perform detailed vehicle inspections.
• The ability to follow technical instructions for the safe operation of all controls.
