Enterprise Risk Management Committee Ordinary Member (Risk Management & Compliance)

The Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) is looking for a qualified professional to join its Enterprise Risk Management Committee. The GCIS is responsible for managing government communications, setting standards, and keeping the public informed about government policies and achievements.

Requirements

We are seeking an independent external professional with the following qualifications and experience:

  • A Degree in Risk Management, Internal Audit, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of management experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), Treasury Regulations, ISO3100, King IV Report, COSO, and the Public Sector Risk Management Framework.
  • Prior experience serving on a Risk Management or Audit Committee.
  • Proven expertise in Enterprise Risk Management, Auditing, Financial Management, Corporate Governance, and Compliance.
  • Experience in Ethics, Integrity, and Business Continuity Management.
  • Experience working within a communications environment is an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work according to the approved committee charter and perform the following duties:

  • Advise the Accounting Officer and management on risk management and organizational governance.
  • Review and monitor how the department implements its risk management policies and strategies.
  • Provide guidance on identifying and assessing risks to ensure the department’s risk register is complete and accurate.
  • Help integrate risk management into the department's planning and reporting processes.
  • Oversee the implementation of Business Continuity Management (BCM) plans.
  • Offer advice on ethics, integrity, fraud prevention, and other governance processes.
  • Assist in setting and reviewing the department’s risk appetite and tolerance levels.
