Siyancuma Municipality is looking for a qualified and experienced Fitter and Turner or Millwright to join our team in the Northern Cape. This is a 12-month contract position focused on maintaining and repairing essential municipal infrastructure.

Job Overview

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:

• A valid Trade Certificate as a Fitter or Millwright.
• At least 3 to 5 years of experience as a qualified professional.
• Specific experience working with pumps and electrical equipment, preferably within a municipal environment.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing pump station operations and ensuring all mechanical systems run efficiently. Main duties include:

• Supervision and Leadership: Manage and control personnel and daily operational requirements at pump stations.
• Installation and Construction: Supervise and help with the installation of mechanical pumps, motors, and related components.
• Maintenance and Repairs: Conduct inspections to ensure equipment is functional and troubleshoot or repair mechanical reticulation systems as needed.
• Project Coordination: Plan and organize site requirements for both planned maintenance and emergency repairs.
• Equipment Operation: Operate heavy or specialized vehicles, such as crane trucks, during installation and repair work.
• Administration: Complete necessary paperwork, including timesheets, progress reports, and vehicle checklists.
