Fixed Term ATO Inspector Pilot/FSTD (Gauteng) Jobs

The South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) is looking for a qualified professional to join our team as an ATO Inspector Pilot/FSTD. This is a fixed-term contract position based in Gauteng. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring high standards of safety and regulatory compliance within aviation training and licensing.

Role Overview

In this role, you will oversee licensing standards for aircrew, manage the oversight of flight examiners, and approve examination centers. You will also be responsible for developing and implementing civil aviation regulations to ensure they meet international standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Regulatory Development: Help develop and update Civil Aviation Regulations (CARs) and Technical Standards (CATS) to ensure compliance with international safety standards.
• Audits and Inspections: Conduct regular audits on aviation training organizations and qualify Flight Simulation Training Devices (FSTDs).
• Oversight: Monitor the activities of designated examiners and ensure all training manuals meet legal requirements.
• Compliance Management: Recommend enforcement actions for non-compliance and monitor the implementation of corrective actions.
• Licensing Support: Assist with the assessment of license applications against legal requirements.
• Industry Liaison: Represent the SACAA at workshops and conferences, providing feedback to industry stakeholders to improve safety standards.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must meet the following criteria:

• Education: A Bachelor’s Degree.
• Licensing: A Commercial Pilot License (CPL) with ATPL subjects, or a Frozen ATPL with a Grade II Instructor Rating (or an equivalent SA Air Force Flight Instructor Rating).
• Experience: Between 300 and 500 hours of flight instructor training experience.
