Abaqulusi Municipality, located in the Zululand District of KwaZulu-Natal, is seeking a dedicated Foreman for our Water and Sanitation department. This is a full-time position for a technical leader who can oversee essential water services and manage a skilled team.

Minimum Requirements

To qualify for this position, applicants must have:

• A Grade 12 Certificate (Matric).
• A Diploma in Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a relevant equivalent qualification (NQF Level 6).
• A valid driver’s license.
• 2 to 3 years of supervisory experience specifically in the water and sanitation sector.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following areas:

• Work Planning: Organize daily tasks based on priority. Ensure that the team has the necessary tools, materials, and equipment to complete projects efficiently.
• Staff Supervision: Manage personnel by monitoring attendance and performance. Address workplace conflicts and follow the necessary disciplinary procedures to maintain a productive team environment.
• System Maintenance: Inspect water plants and network systems to identify and manage repair requirements. Respond to technical enquiries and community complaints promptly.
• Resource Management: Monitor stock levels and materials. Coordinate with senior management to prevent project delays caused by a lack of resources.
• Operational Improvements: Look for better ways to install and maintain pipelines and storage units. Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) to improve service delivery and cost-effectiveness.
• Infrastructure Development: Help set up and test new equipment and plants for water and wastewater distribution to ensure they meet the required standards.
