Job Description

Job Purpose

  • To ensure the safe, efficient, and accurate movement, loading, unloading, and storage of materials and finished goods, while maintaining compliance with company policies, operational procedures, quality standards, and health and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate the forklift smoothly and efficiently.
  • Conduct daily pre-operational and post-operational forklift inspections.
  • Load, unload, move, and store goods in line with safety requirements.
  • Ensure correct weight distribution for loading vehicles.
  • Safely and accurately stack goods on top of each other to a maximum height of three pallets high.
  • Move raw materials, packaging, and finished goods to designated areas as instructed.
  • Receive and store raw materials and packaging materials in designated storage locations.
  • Ensure stock rotation in accordance with the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) principle.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and ensure that Food Safety and Health and Safety standards are adhered to.
  • Work overtime as required to support operational and dispatch requirements with no notice period.
  • Assist with monthly stock counts and cycle counts.
  • Provide ad hoc support to the Production department as required.

Qualification Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Essential)
  • Valid forklift operator licence/certificate (Essential)

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year forklift operating experience within a manufacturing environment (Essential)
  • Warehouse experience will be advantageous (Desirable)

Personal Qualities & Competencies

Knowledge:

  • Good understanding of Warehouse Health and Safety procedures (Intermediate)
  • Familiarity with the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) (Intermediate)
  • Basic knowledge of stock handling and storage procedures (Intermediate)

Skills:

  • Good planning, time management and prioritization skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet operational deadlines
  • Willingness to work flexible hours when required
