Frogfoot is seeking a Maintenance Fibre Technician to join our Maintenance department in Gauteng. This role is perfect for a hands-on, technically driven individual who thrives in the field. The primary purpose is to install, maintain, and troubleshoot fibre optic systems and network infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance from the Node through to Access Points.

You will be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the network across Nodes, Distribution, and Access layers. This involves direct engagement with both residential (FTTH) and business (FTTB) clients to guarantee a reliable, high-quality connection.

Key Responsibilities

Planning

  • Anticipating potential problems.
  • Prioritizing work based on the Maintenance Department Escalation Matrix.
  • Ensuring accurate communication of information to relevant maintenance teams.
  • Assisting Maintenance Supervisors with planning and action plans.

Co-operating / Liaising

  • Building cooperation from peers.
  • Collaborating on joint projects with other disciplines, departments, or organizations.
  • Liaising with supervisory grades.

Investigating / Observing / Searching / Collecting

  • Asking questions to gather required information.
  • Establishing information for proof, validation, or evidence.

  • Checking work completion to set standards and/or Frogfoot Specifications.
  • Checking work meets specifications and SLA.
  • Accurately counting items.
  • Examining drawings for accuracy and completeness.
  • Verifying calculation accuracy for Frogfoot Network.

Presenting / Instructing / Briefing

  • Explaining systems, procedures, or controls to others.

Working Times & Expectations

  • Standard operating hours: 8:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday.

  • On standby, availability is required 24/7 within agreed timeframes.

What You'll Need to Know

  • Civil Works Building Networks (Desirable).
  • Fibre Network Installations (Essential).
  • Fibre Network Testing & Troubleshooting (Essential).
  • Civil Work Reinstatements (Desirable).

Skills That Will Help You Succeed

  • Matric (Grade 12) or proven track record through work experience in a similar role.
  • CFOT Certification from FOA and/or similar accredited institution.
  • 12 - 24 months industry-related experience.
  • FTTH & FTB site builds (Essential).
  • Fault-finding & Troubleshooting (Essential).
  • Installation of fibre duct and cable (Essential).
  • Splicing and testing of fibre (Essential).
  • Installation of ONTs and routers (Essential).
  • Working in Nodes (Essential).
  • End user sign-off (Desirable).
  • Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook (Essential).
  • Proficient PC skills (Essential).
  • Experience on RT or similar platforms (Essential).
  • Experience on Solid or similar platforms (Essential).
