Role Purpose

The General Manager: Africa is responsible for achieving business goals through the management of existing contracts and driving new growth across the continent. This role ensures that Fraser Alexander’s mission is successfully implemented throughout Africa.

Key Responsibilities

Divisional & Operational Management

• Oversee daily operations to ensure all performance targets are met or exceeded.
• Analyze and manage country-specific risks and ensure all business activities follow company policies.
• Drive business planning and growth in alignment with our Africa strategy.
• Ensure the company complies with local laws and international governance standards.

Leadership & Culture

• Foster a culture of high performance and quality output.
• Develop a leadership team that is innovative, disciplined, and self-driven.
• Apply performance management systems to ensure cost-efficiency and lean operational principles.

Financial & Risk Management

• Manage the financial health of the division, including top-line and bottom-line performance.
• Oversee financial modeling for new projects and tenders.
• Align operations with the group’s Enterprise Risk Management framework.
• Evaluate risks and opportunities for specific clients and projects.

Contract & Customer Management

• Lead the tendering process, including risk assessment and financial planning.
• Manage contracts to ensure we meet production, cost, quality, and sustainability goals.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.

Safety & Growth

• Ensure all safety, health, environmental, and quality (SHEQ) standards are met.
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand the company’s brand.
• Review and approve all tender documents and business proposals before submission.

Requirements

Qualifications

• BSc or BEng Degree.
• A postgraduate or commercial-related qualification.
• Proven background in Leadership Development.

Experience & Skills

• 15 to 20 years of relevant professional experience.
• Specific experience within the mining industry is essential.
• Strong operational experience in mining services.
• Deep knowledge and thought leadership within the mining sector.
