Role Purpose
The General Manager is responsible for the overall operational, financial, and educational performance of schools within the Pinnacle Colleges brand. The role provides strategic leadership and operational oversight to ensure high standards of academic delivery, strong Executive Head performance, student achievement, and stakeholder engagement across the network.
The General Manager works closely with the Managing Director, Functional Leads(brand team), Executive Heads, Heads of School, Principals and central support functions including People and Culture, Finance, IT, Facilities, Properties, and Compliance to ensure alignment between school operations and the strategic objectives, values, and vision of the brand.
The role is accountable for driving sustainable growth, strengthening leadership capability, ensuring regulatory compliance, and delivering a consistent, high-quality learner and parent experience across all campuses while recognising and supporting the unique identity and positioning of each school within the brand.
Output 1: Strategic Leadership and Brand Performance
- Lead the implementation of the Pinnacle Colleges strategy across schools within the brand.
- Develop and execute strategic plans that support growth, improvement, and long-term sustainability.
- Drive a culture of accountability, innovation, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
- Support expansion initiatives, including campus growth opportunities, infrastructure development, and enhancement projects.
- Analyse market opportunities to strengthen enrolment growth, market positioning, and profitability.
- Monitor and evaluate performance against key strategic indicators including enrolments, financial performance, academic outcomes, operational delivery, and campus development priorities.
- Ensure the consistent delivery of the Pinnacle Colleges value proposition across all campuses.
Output 2: Educational Leadership and Academic Oversight
- Monitor academic performance indicators and drive improvements in learner outcomes and teaching quality.
- Support Executive Heads and Heads of School in achieving educational excellence.
- Ensure compliance with national curriculum requirements, accreditation standards, and educational regulations.
- Maintain alignment between academic standards, learner outcomes, and the strategic positioning of the brand.
- Promote the sharing of best practices, innovation, and continuous improvement across schools.
Output 3: Operational Excellence
- Provide oversight of day-to-day school operations, including academic delivery, student wellbeing, people practices, technology, facilities, health and safety, and compliance.
- Ensure consistent implementation of operational policies, procedures, and service standards across all campuses.
- Partner with IT and service providers to implement systems that support learning and operational effectiveness.
- Drive operational efficiencies and effective problem-solving across the network.
- Ensure facilities and campus environments align with the standards and positioning of Pinnacle Colleges.
- Monitor enrolment performance and learner retention and implement strategies to support sustainable growth.
- Maintain accountability for occupational health and safety compliance across all schools.
Output 4: Financial Leadership
- Oversee annual budgeting processes across all schools.
- Monitor financial performance and ensure responsible and effective use of resources.
- Partner with Finance to analyse and interpret financial performance.
- Ensure financial targets are achieved and corrective actions implemented where necessary.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial sustainability, profitability, and operational efficiencies.
Output 5: People and Culture Leadership
- Drive the strategic People and Culture agenda across the brand.
- Build and maintain a high-performing leadership team with clear accountability and role clarity.
- Lead, coach, and mentor Executive Heads, Principals, and Heads of School to strengthen leadership capability and campus learner outcomes.
- Support talent acquisition, succession planning, retention, and workforce planning initiatives.
- Promote employee engagement, wellbeing, professional development, and leadership growth.
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and values-driven culture across the brand.
- Ensure sound employee relations practices and legally compliant people processes working closely with the brand People & Culture team.
Output 6: Stakeholder and Community Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with parents, communities, educational partners, and external stakeholders.
- Represent the brand at public forums, community engagements, and governance meetings.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to build trust, transparency, and confidence in the brand.
- Act as the escalation point for significant parent concerns, learner discipline matters, and reputational issues.
- Champion the learner and parent experience to ensure high levels of satisfaction, retention, and advocacy.
- Act as the escalation point for parent queries, student discipline and student achievements
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business Administration, or related field (NQF 7)
Experience:- Minimum 7–10 years of experience in educational leadership or senior management roles
