We are seeking a hands-on General Manager with extensive experience in food manufacturing to lead a single-site prepared food operation in the Western Cape. This role is pivotal in driving operational excellence, executing a turnaround strategy, and fostering sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide full site leadership and bear ultimate P&L accountability for the operation.
• Execute a comprehensive operational stabilization plan and lead the turnaround of the complex facility.
• Implement strategies to improve yield, minimize waste, and optimize overall operational costs.
• Guarantee stringent adherence to food safety, hygiene, and all relevant compliance standards.
• Develop and nurture leadership depth across the site, fostering frontline accountability and ownership.
• Maintain a highly visible, hands-on presence on site with clear authority and decision-making power.

Requirements

• Demonstrated track record as a General Manager or Operations Manager within the food manufacturing sector.
• Proven experience successfully managing complex operations through turnaround or recovery scenarios.
• Strong leadership capabilities, specifically demonstrated in unionised work environments.
• Possess significant commercial and operational credibility, with a focus on practical, hands-on management rather than purely strategic oversight.
• Exhibit resilience, decisiveness, and an unwavering sense of accountability.
• Preferred: Tertiary qualification in Food Technology, Engineering, Operations Management, or a closely related discipline.
