Invitation to Serve on the Audit Committee Members (X5) Jobs

Greater Giyani Municipality, located in the Limpopo province, is seeking five (5) qualified and experienced professionals to serve on its Audit Committee. The committee functions as an independent advisory body to the Municipal Council and management, ensuring transparency and accountability in line with the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA).

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Education: A relevant degree or qualification in Accounting, Financial Management, Internal Auditing, Performance Management, Law, or Engineering.
• Experience: At least 5 years of senior management experience in any of the following fields: Internal Auditing, Risk Management, Accounting, IT, Engineering, or Performance Management.
• Professional Standing: Membership in a recognized professional body (such as SAICA, IIA, IRMSA, or ECSA) is highly recommended.
• Knowledge: A deep understanding of the municipal environment, local government legislation, and relevant financial regulations.
• Security: All applicants will undergo security clearance and background checks.

Key Responsibilities

Successful candidates will advise the Municipal Council, the Accounting Officer, and management on various matters, including:

• Internal controls and internal audit processes.
• Risk management and effective governance.
• Reviewing annual financial statements to provide a credible view of the municipality's financial position.
• Monitoring performance management and compliance with the MFMA and other legislation.
• Addressing issues raised by the Auditor General in audit reports.
• Conducting investigations into financial affairs as requested by the Council.

Terms of Office and Remuneration

• Duration: Members are appointed for a three-year term, subject to review by the Council.
• Restrictions: To ensure effectiveness, candidates may not serve on more than three (3) government audit committees at the same time.
• Pay: Remuneration is based on National Treasury regulations and rates approved by the Council.
