Job Description

IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane. This unique mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanised state-of-the-art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to develop this "mine of the future".

Qualifications

• BSc Hons Geology or related qualifications
• Registration or eligibility with the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNASP) or equivalent
• Computing qualifications
• Basic statistical analysis skills
• Valid Driver's License

Work Experience

• Minimum of four years related industry experience in exploration drilling and underground mining as a Production Geologist
• Minimum of two years in geology data analysis and reconciliation
• Exposure to mineral resource estimation processes
• Additional QA/QC certifications on sampling datasets
• Experience in dealing with complex datasets in databases and coordinating multidisciplinary teams (drilling, survey, mining)
• Exposure to automated geological data workflows
• Proficient in mine software packages: DataMine, Leapfrog, Deswik, and AcQuire (preferred)
• Proficient in Microsoft software: Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
• Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams (drilling, survey, mining)
• High-level administrative skills

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop the Geology Database (AcQuire) and associated systems (Exploration/studio Mapper)
• Collect and capture geological and structural data, as well as drill core logging information accurately and timely
• Ensure data accuracy and timely entry into the database
• Proactively participate in geology interpretation, including fault, structure, orebody, and other geological features, ensuring accurate wireframing
• Assist the Geologist II in managing diamond drill programs, site coordination, and contractor management
• Conduct core logging and oversee core sampling processes, ensuring accurate sample tracing, marking, recording, and QA/QC compliance (assay and survey sign-off)
• Supervise execution of underground exploration and cover drilling programs
• Supervise execution of underground grade control drilling programs
• Assist with contributions for daily, weekly, and monthly reporting and reconciliations on geological activities
