About the Company

The South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) is an agency of the Department of Transport. Established to oversee civil aviation safety and security, the SACAA operates under the Civil Aviation Act of 2009 to ensure the industry meets international standards.

Job Purpose

The successful candidate will help monitor and enforce legal compliance within the SACAA. This role involves ensuring the organization follows all applicable laws, regulations, and internal procedures, while also supporting ethics and corporate governance initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and implementing effective legal compliance and POPIA programs.
• Help create Compliance Risk Management Plans to identify and address potential gaps.
• Review and update company policies to ensure they align with current laws.
• Support the Legal Compliance Specialist by preparing detailed reports on regulatory matters.
• Draft action plans to address audit findings or compliance issues.
• Identify and monitor new laws or draft regulations that may affect the SACAA.
• Consolidate feedback and commentary on draft legislation.
• Handle PAIA (Promotion of Access to Information Act) applications and related administration.
• Support the Company Secretary with governance tasks, including drafting memos and taking minutes for meetings.
• Conduct research and draft legal opinions as required.
• Assist with ethics training and monitoring to ensure all employees understand their regulatory obligations.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

• A completed Legal Degree (LLB or B Proc).

Experience:

• At least 12 months of experience working in a law firm or a legal compliance/governance office.

Ideal Qualifications:

• Candidates who have completed a Compliance Certificate, served their Articles, or are Admitted Attorneys will have an advantage.
