Lesaka Technologies is seeking a motivated KYC / Client Verification Intern to join our Merchant Division. This role is based in Cape Town and offers a great opportunity for someone interested in risk management, compliance, and customer authentication.

Role Summary

In this position, you will support the Fraud & Verifications team. Your main goal is to verify customer identities, ensure we meet all regulatory requirements, and maintain accurate records while providing professional service to our clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Customer Verification: Conduct identity checks using phone, email, and internal chat systems.
• Document Validation: Review identity documents and supporting paperwork to ensure they are authentic.
• Data Accuracy: Cross-check customer information against internal databases to identify any discrepancies.
• Compliance & Risk: Follow FICA and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations. Flag high-risk profiles for further review and protect sensitive data.
• Professional Interaction: Clearly explain document requirements to customers and handle sensitive conversations with empathy and professionalism.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Previous experience or familiarity with compliance environments is a plus.
