Job Opportunity: Linen Stores Assistant

The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness is responsible for providing public healthcare services to the people of the Western Cape. We are currently seeking a reliable and hardworking individual to join our team as a Linen Stores Assistant.

Role Overview

This is a full-time position based in the Western Cape. As a Linen Stores Assistant, you will support our laundry and linen management operations to ensure our healthcare facilities remain clean and well-supplied.

Minimum Requirements

  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills (ability to read, write, and count).
  • Previous experience working in a laundry service environment.

Key Skills and Competencies

  • Professionalism: Ability to take responsibility for your work and operate independently without constant supervision.
  • Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Technical Knowledge: A solid understanding of laundry service procedures.

Physical and Work Requirements

Please note that this role is physically demanding and involves the following conditions:

  • Standing and moving for most of the working day.
  • Working in environments with uncomfortable temperatures.
  • Handling heavily soiled linen, which may contain human waste or blood (safety protocols provided).
  • A willingness to work overtime, weekends, and public holidays as needed.
  • Flexibility to rotate and assist in other departments when required.
