Beaufort West Municipality, located in the Western Cape, is seeking a qualified and experienced professional to join our team as the Manager of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

Role Overview

The Manager: ICT is responsible for leading the municipality's technology strategy, overseeing network infrastructure, and ensuring all digital systems operate smoothly to support municipal services.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategy and Policy: Develop and implement ICT strategies and internal policies to improve organizational efficiency.
• Infrastructure Management: Manage network connectivity and ensure all staff have reliable access to necessary systems.
• Technical Support: Oversee the troubleshooting of hardware and software issues to minimize downtime.
• System Maintenance: Manage regular upgrades, repairs, and the installation of new ICT equipment and software.
• Data Security: Ensure data integrity through regular backups, risk management, and compliance with software licensing.
• Procurement: Provide expert advice and technical specifications for the purchase of new ICT equipment and systems.
• Operational Services: Manage the maintenance of municipal printing and photocopying services.

Requirements

• Education: A 3-year Diploma (NQF Level 6) or a Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) in Information Technology or a related field.
• Experience: At least 8 years of post-qualification experience in the ICT field, with at least 3 years in a management or leadership role.
• Driver’s License: A valid Code B driver’s license is required.

Technical Skills

Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in the following areas:

• Network administration, server management, and data storage.
• Microsoft network systems and infrastructure.
• Linux administration and SQL database management.
• Software development and programming.
• General computer literacy including telecommunications and applications.
