ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Speech Therapist, you will play a vital role in delivering person-centered, evidence-based rehabilitation to patients with communication, speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders. Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to improving functional outcomes and enhancing quality of life for patients in a supportive and professional environment.

We partner with Nurture Health (South Africa’s largest physical rehabilitation hospital group) to provide facility-based, post-acute healthcare outside acute hospital settings. EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS/TRAINING

  • Degree in Speech and Language Therapy
  • Current HPCSA registration and Malpractice Insurance
  • Up to date CPD status
  • Experience in a rehabilitation environment
  • Special interest / expertise within Neurological conditions
  • Valid driver’s license with own transport

KEY COMPETENCIES

  • Good written and spoken English language skills (Afrikaans and Xhosa will be advantageous)
  • Willing to work in acute, inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation environments
  • Awareness of evidence base for interventions
  • Computer literacy (assessment and weekly reports for medical funders and Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Ability to self-manage; prioritize workload, and adaptability
  • Excellent communication and collaborative skills within a team setting
  • Analysis; decision making and initiative-taking
