Job Description

Management, Interpersonal and Team Facilitation

  • Recruit, develop, and allocate resources effectively to optimize skills and productivity.
  • Monitor performance, ensuring alignment with company policies and values.
  • Make sure that a checklist is completed before each show and implemented
  • Oversee shift planning and execution per company standards and legislation.
  • Pre-plan each show to align the output team with editorial objectives.

Stakeholder Interaction

  • Build and maintain strong, diverse internal and external relationships to drive business goals.
  • Balance personal and professional interactions, prioritizing organizational interests.
  • Ensure pre-planning meetings occur before each show, with key management updates shared with teams weekly.

Functional Planning and Performance

  • Translating the strategy into an operational plan, where targets and performance measures are clear and aligned to the overall strategic direction/focus of the business.
  • Regularly monitoring the operational plan, ensuring that targets are consistently met/achieved and where necessary adapt and implement remedial steps to deliver results.

Strategic Contribution

  • Drive market share growth by aligning programming with audience needs and strategic goals.
  • Foster an agile, data-driven content approach that continuously improves audience engagement.
  • Ensuring that the strategic priorities of the organisation are translated and implemented in the team to drive and deliver operational standards of excellence.

Team and Personal Development 

  • Stay abreast of role and industry developments and ensure that skills and experience remain updated.
  • Keep team skills and knowledge current, particularly in journalism and media trends.
  • Proactively manage performance, addressing concerns with clear, timely actions.
  • Identify and implement training programs to develop team capabilities, skills and experience.

Content Generation, Broadcast Delivery and Editorial Leadership

  • Produce well-researched, balanced, and engaging content that aligns with editorial policies.
  • Provide editorial guidance, ensuring thorough planning, research, and news coverage.
  • Lead editorial meetings, brainstorm content ideas, and approve expert guest selections.
  • Enhance storytelling with visuals, infographics, and other media elements.
  • Manage live content, oversee on-air graphics, and ensure smooth broadcast execution.
  • Take final accountability for editorial decisions and provide continuous feedback to improve performance.
  • Continuously review and provide feedback to the value chain, including Anchors, to ensure optimal performance and delivery of the content strategy.
  • Brief the production hub on specific relevant productions and manage the turnaround time.

Stakeholder Relationships

  • Building, supporting and maintaining interpersonal and team relationships to ensure stable working environment and achievement of team objectives.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance team environment.
  • Ensure 100% compliance with productivity targets, shift rosters, and performance reviews.
  • Promote company values daily and maintain low staff turnover.

  • Broadcast Journalism- 3 years supervisory - Essential 

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree (3 years - 360 credits) - Television or Media Studies - Essential
