Job Opportunity: Research Support Assistant (Rangeland and Forage Science)

The Agricultural Research Council (ARC) is South Africa's leading agricultural research institution. Our mission is to promote excellence in agricultural research and development to support the nation's farming sector. The ARC-Animal Production (ARC-AP) unit is currently looking for 50 energetic and skilled individuals to join our team in Irene, Pretoria, as Research Support Assistants.

Position Overview

Job Title: Research Support Assistant (50 Positions)
Location: Irene, Pretoria, Gauteng
Job Type: Full-Time
Field: Research & Science

Key Responsibilities

Successful candidates will assist with various field and laboratory tasks to support our research goals. Main duties include:

• Providing regular verbal and written updates on field activities.
• Working closely with research staff to help complete project goals.
• Ensuring all assigned tasks are completed accurately and on time.
• Taking care of data-collection equipment and using materials efficiently.
• Following all Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) rules to maintain a safe working environment.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Grade 12 (Matric) certificate.
• Good communication skills in English (both written and spoken).
• The physical ability to perform routine and demanding manual work, often in outdoor weather conditions.
• A strong sense of responsibility, accuracy, and the ability to work independently.
• Previous experience in a research environment is an added advantage but not a requirement.
