Dis-Chem Pharmacies’ has an opportunity available for a Risk and Control Coordinator to join the Finance team in Midrand. The main purpose of this role will to provide administrative and coordination support to the Group Risk function. The role focuses on maintaining risk and control documentation, coordinating inputs from the business, tracking updates and actions, and supporting risk reporting processes under the guidance of the Risk Manager. The role does not own risk assessments or control evaluations but supports their execution and documentation.
Minimum Requirements…
Essential:
- Matric or equivalent Senior Certificate.
- Degree in Risk Management, Internal Audit, Finance, or related field
- Minimum of 1–3 years’ experience in risk, compliance, audit, or governance administration
Preferably within a pharmaceutical retail or regulated environment

Risk Administration & Coordination:
- Assist with the collection, consolidation and updating of risk register inputs from business units.
- Capture and maintain risk information in risk registers and systems as guided by the Risk Manager.
- Support the scheduling and coordination of risk register, update sessions and conduct follow ups with business stakeholders.
- Track risk treatment actions and maintain action status logs.
- Flag missing information, overdue actions or incomplete submissions to the Risk Manager.
- Maintain accurate and up to date risk and control registers.
- Action tracking logs for risk treatments and control remediation.
- Supporting documentation for risk reporting and assurance activities.
- Supporting documentation for second line control monitoring activities performed
- Reliable administrative support to the Group Risk function.
Control Documentation Support & Level 2 Monitoring Activities:
- Support second line oversight activities by performing limited control monitoring procedures as instructed by the Risk Manager or designated second line function.
- Execute control checks based on predefined scopes, checklists and procedures approved by the second line function.
- Perform risk and control testing based on predefined scopes.
- Collect and retain control evidence for second line monitoring purposes only.
- Accurately document factual results of procedures performed.
- Identify and record observed control deviations or gaps and escalate these to the Risk Manager for review.
- Track management remediation actions arising from second line monitoring activities and maintaining action logs.
- Liaise with control owners to obtain documentation and clarify control execution where requested.
Reporting & Data Support:
- Assist with the preparation of standard risk and control reports using approved templates.
- Compile risk data for dashboards and management reports under supervision.
- Ensure accurate record keeping and version control of risk and control documentation.
- Support data maintenance in risk or GRC systems.
Stakeholder & Team Support:
- Act as an administrative support contact for risk champions and control owners.
- Follow up on information requests on behalf of the Risk Manager.
- Support risk awareness sessions, meetings and workshops through logistics and documentation.
- Take meeting notes and maintain action logs where required.

Essential:
- Basic understanding of enterprise risk management principles and control concepts
- Foundational knowledge of inherent and residual risk, control types and risk registers. Awareness of governance frameworks such as ISO 31000, COSO and King IV/V
- Basic awareness of regulatory environments impacting the business, including retail and healthcare contexts
