Job Opportunity: SCM Clerk

The Eastern Cape Department of Public Works and Infrastructure (DPWI) is responsible for managing and developing provincial government assets. The department oversees essential construction and maintenance projects, including the refurbishment of schools and hospitals, to support provincial development.

Position Overview

Requirements

  • A Grade 12 (Matric) certificate or an equivalent qualification.
  • No previous work experience is required for this position.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will provide essential support in the supply chain management office. Primary duties include:

Procurement and System Management
  • Use the LOGIS system to create financial commitments and authorize requisitions.
  • Ensure all procurement information is accurately captured in the system.
  • Verify that allocations match the department's budget reports.
  • Confirm that the correct suppliers and approved quotations are used.
Logistics and Supplier Support
  • Place orders for goods and receive items from suppliers.
  • Update and maintain databases and registers for suppliers and goods.
  • Process requests for goods from internal staff and end-users.
  • Reconcile purchase requisitions with final orders.
Inventory and Administration
  • Track pending deliveries and confirm when services have been successfully rendered.
  • Capture and verify receipts and issues on the LOGIS system.
  • Maintain accurate records and forward completed documentation to the finance department for payment.
