workplace to deliver optimised and adaptive workspaces where everyone feels

The team can manage workplace projects of any scale for both the commercial and
retail sectors which include existing premises refurbishments, new fit-outs, and
renovations throughout South Africa. ID WORK deliver a total end-to-end business
solution from inception to implementation.
ROLE PURPOSE
The Senior Designer is responsible for leading the creative direction, design quality, and
delivery of interior design projects from concept through to completion. This role
combines hands-on design leadership with active mentorship of the design team,
ensuring consistently high standards across all project outputs while fostering growth,
capability, and effective resourcing within the team.
KEY RESPONSBILITIES
Design Leadership & Delivery• Lead the conceptual development and execution of interior design projects
across all phases (concept, spatial planning, design development,
documentation, and site support).
• Ensure design solutions are innovative, functional, and aligned with client
objectives, budget, and project timelines.
• Maintain a strong design narrative across projects, ensuring consistency and
design integrity through to completion.
• Oversee production of design documentation, presentations, and technical
detailing to a high professional standard.
Team Mentorship & Development• Actively mentor, guide, and support junior and intermediate designers in their
day-to-day work.
• Provide constructive design critique, technical guidance, and creative direction
to strengthen team output.
• Support skills development through knowledge-sharing, informal training, and
structured feedback sessions.
• Encourage a collaborative, solution-driven design culture within the team.
Resource Planning & Team Allocation Assistance• Support the planning, allocation, and balancing of design resources across
multiple live projects.
• Assist in assigning designers to projects based on skills, capacity, and project
complexity.
• Monitor workload distribution within the design team to ensure efficiency, quality,
and realistic delivery timelines.
• Identify resourcing risks early and escalate capacity constraints where required.
• Collaborate with project leads to align resource planning with project
programmes and deadlines.
• Help optimise team utilisation while maintaining design quality and staff
wellbeing.
Project Coordination & Collaboration• Collaborate closely with project managers, consultants, contractors, and
suppliers to ensure design intent is accurately executed.
• Participate in client presentations, design workshops, and project meetings as a
senior design representative.
• Assist in resolving design and site-related challenges with practical, design-led
solutions.
Quality Control & Standards• Review and sign off design deliverables before submission or client presentation.
• Ensure all design outputs comply with internal standards, brand expectations,
and technical requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement in design processes, tools, and documentation
standards.
EDUCATION• Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, or related
design field (required).
• Postgraduate qualification or additional certifications will be advantageous.
EXPERIENCE• Minimum 7–10 years’ professional experience in interior design or interior
architecture.
• Proven experience leading commercial interior projects (office environments
preferred).
• Demonstrated experience in mentoring or guiding junior designers within a studio
environment.
• Strong portfolio showcasing end-to-end project delivery, from concept to site
execution.
SOFTWARE & TECHNICAL PROFIECIENCY• Advanced proficiency in:
o REVIT
o SketchUp (or similar 3D modelling software)
o Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
• Experience with Enscape, V-Ray, or similar rendering tools advantageous.
• Strong capability in producing presentation boards, design documentation, and
technical drawing packages.
• Understanding of FF&E specification and interior construction detailing.
