SENIOR LECTURER
Minimum Academic requirements
- PhD/D-Tech and undergraduate qualification majoring in Economics
- At least 5 years lecturing experience in Economics, at University level
- Senior academic experience within a University context
- Active participation in professional, industry and or community activities
- Evidence of successful postgraduate supervision, at master's and/or PhD level.
- Should be an established researcher. Demonstrate evidence of continuous research in the form of publications in DHET accredited journals and peer-reviewed conference proceedings, research papers presented at national and/or international conferences; contributions to scholarly books published by reputable publishers, in good standing with DHET and not linked to predatory practices.
- A proven track record of research with having produced/published at least a research output in the preceding three years
- Evidence of external examining/moderating at other higher education institutions at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels.
- All of the above have to be consistent with the University’s Staff Promotions Policy
Recommendation
- NRF rating would be considered an added advantage for Senior Lecturer.
- Preference will be given to candidates that meet the Senior Lecturer level criteria.
LECTURER
Minimum Academic requirements
- Master’s degree and undergraduate qualification majoring in Economics
- At least 3 years teaching experience in Economics at University level
- Teaching and record of research publications in accredited journals would be a strong recommendation
- Preference will be given to applicants who are registered for a PhD
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Knowledge or proficiency in statistical software packages such as Stata, and/or R, Eviews, Matlab will be an added advantage for both Senior Lecturer and Lecturer positions.
- Demonstrate innovative thinking towards teaching and learning
- Availability to work at other DUT campuses, in the evenings and weekends and sometimes away from home
- Conduct teaching, learning and assessment using a blended mode
- For the Lecturer position it is recommended that a candidate is at an advanced level of completing a PhD
SUMMARY OF DUTIES
- Take responsibility for the teaching, learning and assessing of modules offered, at all levels, and associated with the programmes in the Department
- Make major contributions to the academic quality by providing leadership of all aspects of offerings associated with Marketing/Retail in the Department
- Lead, develop, design and review all learning content associated with Public Relation/Communication Science
Supervise and co-supervise postgraduate students
- Publish in reputable, DHET accredited
- Promote community engagement within the Department
- General administrative duties assigned by the Head of Department
