Role Overview

We are looking for a dedicated Senior Professional Officer to lead our Coastal Ecosystems and Dune Management initiatives. The primary goal of this role is to strengthen coastal resilience, protect local biodiversity, and support sustainable beachfront use through expert sand and dune management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategy Development: Design and implement a consolidated coastal ecosystem strategy, focusing specifically on integrated dune and sand management for the Cape Town coastline.
  • Project Management: Oversee all relevant coastal projects from start to finish, ensuring they meet high standards of service delivery.
  • Financial Oversight: Manage allocated budgets and ensure resources are used efficiently.
  • Consultant Management: Appoint and supervise external consultants and contracted services when necessary.

Requirements

  • Education: A relevant B Tech or Bachelor’s Degree in Botany, Nature Conservation, Ecological Restoration, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5 to 8 years of relevant professional experience, including at least 2 years of direct experience in Dune Project Management.
  • Technical Expertise: A strong background in Coastal Ecology and ecological restoration is essential.
  • Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Licensing: A valid Code B driver’s license.
