The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness is seeking a qualified Medical Specialist in Psychiatry to join our team. This is a sessional position focused on providing high-quality mental healthcare services to the Western Cape community.

Role Overview

We are looking for a specialist to assist in an outpatient setting, handling clinical assessments, diagnoses, and treatments. The role requires strong clinical expertise, efficient administration, and clear communication skills.

Requirements

• Education: A medical qualification that allows for registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist in Psychiatry.
• Registration: Current, valid registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in Psychiatry.
• Qualifications: MMED in Psychiatry and/or FC Psychiatry (SA) is required.

Experience Levels

Positions are available across three grades based on your professional experience after registering as a specialist:

• Grade 1: No experience required after registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in Psychiatry.
• Grade 2: A minimum of 5 years of appropriate experience as a Medical Specialist.
• Grade 3: A minimum of 10 years of appropriate experience as a Medical Specialist.
