Job Description
A well-established manufacturing company in Greylingstad, Mpumalanga, is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Quality Controller to join its production team. The ideal candidate will have previous experience within a food manufacturing or processing environment and a strong understanding of quality assurance, product inspections, and process monitoring. This role is responsible for ensuring that products meet quality standards and that all inspections, sampling, and reporting requirements are completed accurately and timeously.
Responsibilities
Quality Control & Monitoring- Monitor production processes and report deviations or abnormalities during shifts.
- Record temperatures of incoming raw materials, including meat, blood, and feathers.
- Measure and record pH levels of raw materials received.
- Collect and test product samples hourly during production.
- Record bag temperatures hourly and communicate results to the production team.
- Complete Product Release Forms for every batch produced and ensure no batch is released without the required documentation.
- Report feather meal moisture levels immediately after batch discharge.
- Conduct sieve inspections and complete inspection records.
- Perform odour control checks and maintain related documentation.
- Conduct effluent water analysis and record findings.
Documentation & Reporting- Complete and submit daily shift quality reports before the end of each shift.
- Maintain accurate records of all inspections, sampling activities, and test results.
- Communicate quality-related information and deviations promptly to relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with company quality standards and procedures.
Dispatch & Compliance- Inspect trucks prior to dispatch to ensure cleanliness and suitability for loading.
- Verify that no vehicle leaves the site without a completed inspection.
- Maintain photographic records of truck cleanliness and dispatch compliance.
- Support food safety, hygiene, and quality initiatives across the plant.
- Promote good manufacturing practices (GMP) and maintain high housekeeping standards.
Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Minimum 2–3 years' experience in a Quality Control or Quality Assurance role.
- Previous experience in the Food Manufacturing, FMCG, Meat Processing, Rendering, or Animal Feed industry will be highly advantageous.
- Knowledge of food safety standards, GMP, HACCP, and quality control procedures.
- Ability to conduct product inspections, sampling, and basic quality testing.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record keeping.
- Good communication and reporting skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and WhatsApp-based reporting.
- Ability to work shifts and in a fast-paced production environment.

IMPORTANT NOTES:- Candidates must be willing to relocate to Greylingstad (Nthorwane), Mpumalanga
- Applicants residing in Johannesburg or other metropolitan areas who intend to commute will not be considered
- The role requires shift work (07:00 – 19:00 on a rotational basis), making daily commuting impractical
- A guaranteed 13th cheque is included
- Performance-based bonuses are awarded based on individual performance and achievement of KPIs.
