The City of Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality is the local government for the East Rand region of Gauteng. Located east of Johannesburg, the name "Ekurhuleni" means "place of peace" in XiTsonga. We are currently seeking a highly qualified professional to join our team as a Senior Executive Manager for Support Services.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Business Management (BCom), or an equivalent NQF Level 7 qualification.
  • A Post Graduate Degree in Administration or Compliance Management is an added advantage.
  • At least 8 years of relevant management experience, with at least 3 years at a middle management level.
  • Proven experience in governance, compliance, and corporate services.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and people management skills.
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to lead change within a large organization.

Core Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing administrative and support functions within the department. Key duties include:

  • Strategy & Planning: Developing operational targets and tactical delivery plans that align with the organization's strategic goals.
  • Governance & Compliance: Implementing and monitoring regulatory frameworks to ensure all support services meet legal and internal standards.
  • Risk & Audit: Managing risk assessment and audit-related matters, including reporting on compliance via Risk MIS.
  • Contract Management: Overseeing the entire pipeline for tenders, service level agreements (SLAs), and contracts.
  • Human Resources: Leading the development and review of the HR strategy and managing general administrative support for the HR department.
  • Financial Management: Implementing operational financial strategies and ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Stakeholder Relations: Building and maintaining relationships with internal departments, external service providers, and legislative agencies.
  • Performance Management: Managing the Service Delivery and Budget Implementation Plan (SDBIP) and Integrated Development Plan (IDP) deliverables.
  • Change Leadership: Driving organizational improvements and establishing efficient day-to-day operations to enhance service delivery based on Batho Pele principles.
