Specialist Engineering Artisan (Mechanical Generation)

The City of Cape Town is seeking a skilled and dedicated Specialist Engineering Artisan to join our Mechanical Generation team. As a vital contributor to the infrastructure and service delivery of the Western Cape’s economic hub, you will play a key role in ensuring our operations run effectively.

Role Overview

This is a full-time position based in Cape Town. We are looking for a qualified professional with a strong mechanical background and the ability to handle the physical demands of engineering work in various environments.

Requirements

• Qualification: Must be a Trade-Tested Artisan (Mechanical Fitter or Fitter and Turner).
• Experience: 3 to 5 years of experience working in the trade after completing your apprenticeship.
• License: A valid Code B Driver’s License is required.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Due to the nature of the work, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Be prepared to work in all weather conditions.
• Be available to work outside of normal hours for emergencies and planned overtime.
• Be comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
• Be willing to be placed on a standby roster.
• Be physically fit and able-bodied to perform manual tasks.
