Witzenberg Municipality is looking for a dedicated and experienced Supervisor Driver to join our Solid Waste and Cleansing team. Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 10 certificate (Official proof from your school or institution is required).
  • A valid Code EC1 driver’s license with a Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Basic Computer Literacy Certificate.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Good mathematical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle pressure and resolve conflicts professionally.
  • Physical fitness, including good sight, hearing, and speech.
  • Willingness to work in various weather conditions and perform duties across the entire municipal area.
  • Ability to work overtime or outside normal hours during emergencies.
  • Fluency in at least two of the three main languages of the Western Cape (English, Afrikaans, or IsiXhosa).

Key Responsibilities

  • Operations & Planning: Work with senior staff to plan daily schedules and organize the collection of household and garden waste.
  • Team Supervision: Lead and instruct subordinate staff to ensure all tasks are completed correctly. Provide guidance and help solve problems on-site.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Perform daily pre-trip inspections, report faults immediately, and ensure the vehicle is clean and well-maintained.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure all staff follow Health and Safety regulations. Provide safety training to the team and ensure tools and equipment are stored securely.
  • Reporting: Maintain records of daily activities, including work completed, complaints resolved, and skip loading schedules.
  • Public Relations: Communicate professionally with co-workers and members of the public regarding service-related issues.

Please note that this position is subject to a performance management agreement. The employer reserves the right to monitor performance to ensure service standards are met.
