Pick n Pay is a leading retail store focused on providing excellent service and quality products to our customers. We are currently seeking a dedicated Sushi Assistant to join our team at the Somerset Mall branch in the Western Cape.

Role Overview

The Sushi Assistant is responsible for the daily production of high-quality sushi, ensuring the department runs efficiently while maintaining strict health and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Production and Quality Control

• Follow the weekly production plan to drive sales and minimize food waste.
• Prepare sushi recipes accurately according to established standards.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment at all times.

Sales and Stock Management

• Collaborate with the Sushi Chef to prepare for promotional lines and special offers.
• Assist with monthly stocktakes to ensure accurate inventory.
• Conduct daily waste scanning and reporting.

Food Safety and Hygiene

• Adhere to all food safety procedures and hygiene regulations.
• Maintain the cold chain consistently to ensure product freshness.
• Prevent cross-contamination within the department through proper handling techniques.

Professionalism and Growth

• Model Pick n Pay values in all interactions.
• Take ownership of tasks and stay updated on new industry developments and legislation.
• Maintain a positive attitude and respond professionally to feedback.

Requirements

• Education: Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
• Experience: Proven experience in cutting and filleting fish.
• Skills: Demonstrated ability to prepare various fish-related products and a broad knowledge of fish types.
• Communication: Ability to communicate effectively in English.
• Location: Must reside close to the Somerset Mall store.
