Virgin Active is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Sales Manager to lead our sales team and deliver exceptional club performance. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for maximizing sales team potential through coaching, strategic planning, and execution to achieve our monthly sales targets and drive membership growth.

Your Purpose

  • Make exercise irresistible and create a positive member experience.
  • Deliver monthly club sales results in line with, or exceeding, budget.
  • Create and maintain a high-performing sales team to achieve customer acquisition and revenue growth targets.
  • Maximize sales team potential through coaching and adjusting sales plans as needed to ensure desired results.

Your Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the sales team to achieve growth and consistently meet sales targets.
  • Achieve sales objectives by developing and reviewing sales plans, preparing action plans, and coaching the team for successful delivery.
  • Implement customer service standards, resolve queries, complete audits, and identify trends to implement necessary changes.
  • Maintain and develop a high-performance sales team by leading, developing, coaching, and mentoring; communicating expectations; planning, monitoring, and reviewing contributions; developing compensation actions; and enforcing policies.
  • Perform all necessary administrative and management functions to meet daily, monthly, and quarterly deadlines.
  • Perform manager on duty (MOD) duties as required (Fitness and Fitness Plus clubs, other clubs as needed).
  • Sell memberships to achieve set monthly budget and sales goals.
  • Complete all administrative procedures as required by the company.
  • Proactively identify opportunities and market Virgin Active memberships to the surrounding community and corporate organizations.
  • Actively follow up on club and community leads.
  • Maintain sprint backlogs with Scrum teams and monitor deliverables for timely project completion.

Our Minimum Requirements

  • Matric Certificate.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification (advantageous).
  • At least 2 years' experience managing a sales team (sales management role).
  • At least 4 years' previous experience within the sales environment (sales consultant role or similar industry).
  • Proven track record in a solution sale environment.
  • High numeracy, financial acumen, and understanding of budgeting processes.
  • Proven knowledge of financial reports (e.g., P&L).
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to negotiate and close deals under pressure.
  • Successfully completed Pro-active Sales Manager training (Internal Candidates).
